How a crash round is generated
The crash point exists before the multiplier moves. In the usual implementation the game combines a server seed it keeps hidden for the round with a client seed, hashes the pair, and derives the stopping point from the result. The hash of the server seed is published in advance, so once the seed is revealed after the round you can check that it matches what was committed to.
This is what operators mean when a title is labelled provably fair. It does not mean the game is generous, and it does not change the edge. It means the outcome could not have been altered after bets were placed, and that you can check one specific round rather than take the claim on trust.
Two things follow for the way you play. Cashing out early does not shorten the round for anyone else, because the number was set for everybody at once. And a watched round that climbed to 40x tells you nothing about the next one: each round draws again from a fresh seed pair, so the history strip along the top of the screen is a record, not a pattern.

What auto cash-out actually does
Auto cash-out is a standing instruction: close the bet the moment the multiplier reaches a figure you set. It exists because the alternative is a human tapping a button against a rising number, and reaction time costs money at the margin. What it does not do is protect the stake. If the round stops below your figure, the instruction never fires and the bet is lost exactly as a manual bet would have been.

What each cash-out multiplier costs you
Because the payout is the multiplier times the stake, the arithmetic of a crash bet is simple enough to work out at the table. A cash-out at 2.00x returns twice the stake, so it has to land in more than one round in two to keep you level. A cash-out at 10.00x returns ten times the stake and has to land in more than one round in ten. The break-even hit rate is one divided by the multiplier, at every price.

The point of the table is the part people get backwards.
